About Me
I have always been amazed at how powerful music can be. The way a song can transport you to a time you were happy, sad, at peace, or how it can bring back a memory of a particular person even if just for a split second. I have always had a passion for music, but when I saw the positive effects it had on people suffering with dementia when working as a carer in a nursing home, I knew it was something I wanted to learn more about.
I undertook my music therapy training at The University of South Wales where I worked in a range of different settings. These included clients with dementia, palliative care with children and adults with substance misuse issues.
I currently work within special educational needs schools for children with a range of different disabilities including autism and mild to moderate learning difficulties. within these settings I run a range of 1:1 sessions as well as small groups to help with communication, self-esteem, anxiety and relationship building.
Within my private practice I see 1:1 clients via zoom as well as home visits. These sessions can include songwriting, singing well known songs (lots of Disney!) and improvised music for relaxation.
I work at The Rhythm Practice on a Monday from The Pounds Arts Centre in Corsham where I see 1:1 clients of different ages. I have limited spaces availble, please do get in touch for more information.
